Jubilee Spongy Dish Yarn: A Review

Jubilee Spongy Dish is a 100% nylon yarn. Similar to the Yarn Bee Scrubology – Scrub It! yarn, this one is made up of a foam like center that is encased in a mesh tube that has bits of sparkle in it. Jubilee Spongy Dish Yarn Full Review

Jubilee Spongy Dish Yarn is available in 20 solid colorways. While the feel of this yarn is very similar to Yarn Bee Scrub It! yarn, it is much sturdier. Similarly, The scrubby part is made up of mesh fabric around a foam core (with sparkles!). Unlike the Scrub It! yarn, the mesh tubing is tightly encasing the foam core. 

This is a bulky weight yarn, but I still used the 5 mm knitting needles. And because this yarn has a thicker foam with a tighter fitting mesh fabric. The end result was that the scrubby is STIFF! Which I think could be useful in the scrubbing arena, but probably I should have used larger knitting needles. 

I did occasionally accidentally stick my knitting needle through the mesh fabric, but it was easy to unstick it and redo the stitch. There was a little bit of snagging when weaving in the ends, but nothing as bad as the Yarn Bee Scrub It! yarn.. 

Because the foam was thicker and the mesh was tighter around it, it was a bit difficult to maneuver while knitting. And even with larger needles, I’m not sure if that would have become easier or not. 

I do love the colors and the finished object. And I’m pretty sure that it will make a fantastic scrubby! Besides who doesn’t love a little sparkle? Overall, I think knitting again with larger needles would be the best solution here.

Final thoughts on Jubilee Spongy Dish Yarn

Knitting with this spongy yarn was a bit difficult, but I love the sparkle and the finished object! I would definitely knit with it again, and probably try a larger knitting needle size to see if that would make a better knitting experience.
