Rocket Pop Scrubby: A Free Scrubby Yarn Knit Pattern Introduction
If you live in the United States, you have probably enjoyed one of those fun red, white, and blue popsicles. And there’s nothing that quite says summer like one of these popsicles on a hot day. And that is exactly what inspired the Rocket Pop Scrubby!
But just because we use red, white, and blue here in the US, it doesn’t mean you should feel limited to those colors for your popsicle-shaped scrubby. You can easily knit this pattern with just one or two colors. And if you do decide to go with three, enjoy picking the colors you love to see together for a fun, personalized look.
Working flat, you will knit in garter stitch for the first two-thirds of the popsicle. Simple decreases transform the piece into the classic shape you know and love. Finally, stitches are picked up for an i-cord at the base of the popsicle to give it that “popsicle stick” appearance.
Whether knitting for yourself, a friend, or to sell, this nostalgic design will bring a bit of childhood fun to your day.
If using this pattern to create items for sale, please credit me with the design.
Happy knitting!

Popsicle Stick / i-cord loop
Switch to DPNs for knitting an i-cord. With RS facing, use CC4 to pick up and knit the 3 marked sts in the center of the CO edge. Do not turn. Slide these 3 sts to the other end of your needle.
- Knit 3 sts.
- Slide the 3 sts you just knit to the other end of your needle.
- Knit 3 sts, being careful to pull the working yarn tight enough to close the gap between the last knit st and first knit st. However, be careful that you are not pulling too tightly.
Repeat Steps 2 and 3 until you have knit an i-cord *at least 4 inches/10 cm long.
*You may choose to knit a shorter or longer i-cord to reach your desired loop size.
BO all sts.
Finally, sew the end of your i-cord to the beginning of the i-cord so that it forms a loop. Weave in your ends. Or sew ends through the interior of the i-cord. This hides the ends really well.
You may view a photo tutorial on the OzzyLosi Knit Designs website here.
Finishing
Weave in ends. Block as desired.
